Environmental Impact

Menstrual cups are eco-friendly

  • Menstrual cups amongst tampon trash

Single use period products are not sustainable

    • The average person who menstruates will use 9,129 tampons in their lifetime.

    • 200,000 metric tons— that’s the amount of annual waste generated by tampons, pads, and panty liners.

    • The Vampire Shot Glass is made of sustainable high-quality medical-grade silicone and is the most environmentally sustainable period product you can use.

  • 100% Made in the USA

    • We’ve made the decision to keep production stateside to reduce CO2 emissions.

    • The carbon footprint of individual human beings is largely affected by the travel distances of the goods we use.

    • The Vampire Shot glass product boxes are shipped flat, taking up less space which means fewer trips and lower emissions

It takes between 6 months and 5 years for tampons to decompose.

That doesn't include plastic applicators, which take upwards of 500 years to degrade.

Spending a few bucks on The Vampire Shot Glass versus single-use period products:

In this example, we chose tampons

How much money you spend on tampons a year: 7.50(12) = $90
Before you're 20: $720
Before you're 30; $1,620
Before you're 40: $2,520
Lifetime: $3,870

This doesn't account for tax, and for people who bleed heavily and change tampons more often, or also wear pads in addition to tampons.

How we got the math:
You are supposed to change your tampon every 4-8 hours, so on average people change them about 5ish hours. 1 tampon every 5 hours= 5ish tampons a day. If you bleed for 7 days that is 35 tampons a cycle (which is the average amount of tampons that are in a box). The average age of someone’s first period is 12 and menopause usually sets in at 55- with a 28ish day cycle with 12 periods a year, that’s 516 periods. So 516(35)=18,060 tampons. The average cost of a box of tampons is about $7.50.
